The Coming War on China – Print

Vivienne-Westwood Josie John-Pilger China

Outlined by a hand drawn deaths head skull, the ‘Coming War on China’ print is from the front page of New Internationalist magazine & it’s report by journalist John Pilger.
In this report, Mr Pilger draws the case of the USA’s imperialist aims in the Pacific & about it’s dangerous strategy to provoke an ‘incident’, thereby giving it the excuse it needs to start an armed conflict in the area, dangerous because this would involve the use of nuclear weapons.
This strategy is in play right now as we see the media selectively focusing on China’s building of airstrips on disputed reefs & islets in the South China Sea & not on the reason behind this move, namely the US build-up of its navy & military bases in the area which could potentially block China’s access to oil, gas & other natural resources in the event of a war. This same technique is also being used against Russia.
Mr Pilger’s point in reporting on this is to warn us all of the danger we are in (climate change is bad enough without compounding it with nuclear fallout & the massive amount of CO2 expended in a war), as a knowledge of the facts is the only way to prevent this policy escalating.
China as a nation has for thousands of years, never had any territorial ambitions. This is its character & it is symbolised by its building of its Great Wall, which was built to permanently define its border & defend what it has.

Josie, here at the studio kindly models the t-shirt for us.
On the neckline at the back of the shirt Vivienne has written ‘Don’t get killed’. This is the warning to us all.
