The recent SS16 Red Label show in London was the perfect platform for Vivienne to further spread her political message. Entitled ‘Mirror the World’ (see press release) she calls upon people to demonstrate for their rights.
This is So important now as the current political agenda is completely focused on writing new laws which reduce all the restrictions on big businesses & their ability to make vast profits at the expense of the public good…. Selling off public property at giveaway prices to private speculators (the Royal Mail, Royal Bank of Scotland shares, social housing sites, public buildings, etc, etc), destabilising countries & selling guns & arms paid for by the tax payer willy-nilly to anyone , flooding the world with death, even ISIS is armed with US & UK weapons . Bringing in the TTIP which allows a corporation to sue a sovereign nation for projected loss of income (so for instance a country can be sued for raising its minimum wage as this would reduce a corporation’s profit), Fracking whereby speculators can make a quick buck at the expense of the future water supply of the world & not to mention making absolutely no attempt to mitigate climate change which instead they are exacerbating.
For the show Vivienne had a select group of models & young activists partake in a demonstration outside of the show venue & then array themselves as the backdrop to the show itself. This was partly to show that you can be young & stylish as well as an activist.
The images kindly supplied to us by photographers Portia Hunt & Kamil Kustosz are so strong that I shall be using them for two more posts where I will explain more about the activism of the young people involved.
